Katonah Museum of Art

The experience
Why does the Katonah Museum of Art host 40,000 visitors every year? Let us count the ways! With its critically-acclaimed exhibitions and peaceful sculpture garden, the Museum is a worthy destination in the Hudson Valley's scenic hamlet of Katonah. But it's more than a mecca for adult art lovers. The Museum's popular Learning Center offers hands-on art activities and workshops for children age 3 and up.

Some special exhibits include: Rising Dragon: Contemporary Chinese Photography (through September 2, 2012), which provides an overview of work produced in China by Chinese photographers. The KMA exhibition will include photographs by individuals who have devoted the better part of their lives to using the camera as their tool to create art, as well as by others who have used photography and video to document their artistic activities in a way that no other medium can.

Ice Age to the Digital Age: The 3D Animation Art of Blue Sky Studio (September 16, 2012 through January 20, 2013) , which takes a behind-the-scenes- look at the world of digital animation with the artists of Blue Sky Studios, creators of the blockbuster films, Robots, Ice Age and its popular sequels. From first conception to finished frame, this lively exhibition explores the revolutionary process of 3D animation through the eyes and achievements of a world-class creative team.

Call the museum at 914-232-9555 or visit www.katonahmuseum.org for a full roster of exhibitions and events and for closings during exhibition installation then come one, come all, to explore, imagine, and create. There is a free docent tour daily at 2:30 p.m.
