Responsibilities: Responsible for providing day-to-day onsite administrative support of PACIS Phase II, ATS-A, Penta, CBTC and locally developed applications for the Rail Control Center users. Technologies include: Windows Active Directory, SCCM, Oracle, SQL, Systems Administration of Windows and SUN Solaris Servers and Desktops, remote and field diagnostics, trouble analysis and solution recommendations. Candidate must have the ability to recommend modifications and enhancements to existing and proposed systems. Maintain system hardware and software, analyze problems, and monitor the system to ensure its availability to system users. Gather data to identify customer needs and then use the information to identify, interpret, and evaluate system and system requirements. Ability to analyze Windows and application log files to determine the root cause of problems Must have the ability to work independently and manage a project from start to finish, interfacing with various vendors and user departments to ensure all NYCT user requirements are met. This is a 24/7 shift operation with varying work schedules.
Exper. & Educ.: 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time paid experience in either System Analysis, Computer Programming, Data Base Management, Systems Programming or Data Communications. or 2. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience, however all candidates must have one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project.
Desired Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of management. Strong background in Systems Administration with: experience in Windows and UNIX Operating Systems and Applications. - Knowledge of Storage Area Network design and/or implementation experience desirable. Ability to coordinate, schedule, and prioritize activities and workload to meet deadlines. - Experience with Remote Diagnostic Management Systems and tools including: Microsoft SCCM, Hummingbird, HP Open view, or equivalent and appropriate diagnostics. Experience with supporting transportation applications. Experience installing/maintaining Server Hardware, Operating Systems, and Applications. Strong writing skills.

Responsibilities: Responsible for providing day-to-day onsite administrative support of the Series VII, OASyS and DYNAC SCADA systems for the Power Control Center. Including Systems Administration of Aydin and Windows based desktops, system network communications, GPS, VAX-VMS and UNIX servers. Perform on-site and field diagnostics/trouble analysis. Communicate with hardware and software vendors including the various NYC Transit departments until all software, hardware, database and communication issues are resolved. Support all applications by providing hardware and software maintenance, testing, backups, system upgrades, diagnostic monitoring, database and graphical display building and modifications. Perform Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, attend meetings, create, monitor and update trouble reports, punch lists, technical procedures and various reports when required. Responsibilities: This position reports to the Unit Manager. The Unit focuses on timely detection of, and countermeasures to, weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in order to deter attacks or mitigate the aftermath. Responsibilities include: Supporting the administration of NYCT's ~100 member WMD-HazMat Response Team including preparation of unit's budget for equipment and training; maintenance of team's monitoring and personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as the associated databases; responding to suspected WMD-HazMat incidents (HazWOPER training will be required); conducting WMD-HazMat Response Team's training (e.g., to HazWOPER technician level) pertaining to chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) WMD; participating in interagency exercises. Support WMD environmental monitoring programs; reviews of emerging monitoring technology for real-time detection of WMD. Assist in the development of suitable on-site test bed(s) for the evaluation of evolving detection technology. Assist in researching agent-specific decontamination protocols.
Exper. & Educ.: A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus six years of satisfactory, full-time professional safety work acquired while working for the New York City Transit; or A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with a specialization in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemical, Biological or Physical Sciences, or a related field, plus at least two years of satisfactory full-time experience in professional safety work; or Education and/or experience equivalent to that listed above. A master's degree in any of the fields indicated above may be substituted for one year of experience. However, all external candidates must have a bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience as described above. Additional experience needed for higher levels. Must be a licensed driver.
Desired Skills: Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. Experience with environmental &/or industrial hygiene monitoring methods. Working knowledge of environmental toxicology (including contaminant fate & transport modeling), epidemiology and infection control practices. Knowledge of global information systems (GIS). Experience as a first responder and/or supervising responses to hazardous materials incidents (e.g., civilian or military experience). Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access.
